{Snowflake} Princess Crowns for Kids

Uncategorized

It’s true.  My three-year-old wishes she was a princess.

Since I always seem to step on her play crowns and break them {{whoops}}, I’ve had to come up with lots of different ways to make princess crowns for her.  Since her favorite princesses are Elsa and Anna from Frozen, we transformed an ordinary paper plate into a snowflake princess crown for her!!

Make a snowflake princess crown easily

When I started working on these snowflake princess crowns (we made one for Anna and one for Elsa), my daughter looked at me and said:

“Why are you making this like a snowflake…”

..then there was a long pause…a gasp…

then, a scream: “IT’S LIKE ELSA!!!”

I’m telling you, if you have a princess fan out there, this craft is a winner!

Materials for Princess Crowns for Kids

  • Paper Plate
  • Paint
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaner or string

How to Make a Princess Crown for Kids

  1. Cut the paper plate in half
  2. Fold that piece in half
  3. Cut shapes on the fold, just like you would a paper snowflake {We used a circle, triangle, and long rectangle)
  4. Then, fold in half again
  5. Cut small shapes along the fold so that you don’t accidentally cut the crown apart’
  6. Let kids paint and add glitter
  7. When dry, punch two holes at the ends of the crown and thread with pipe cleaners
  8. Connect the pipe cleaners to fit around the child’s head

If you love to make princess crowns (and frequently step on them like I do!), check out this easy crown from Where Imagination Grows.  They used paper plates, too, so you can have two crafts from one paper plate!!

Don’t need a crown?  Never fear, there’s adorable ways to make paper plates masks, too.

I can’t believe this started out as a paper plate – it’s beautiful! Glitter can do that to anything, I think! 🙂

Thanks, Emma!! We love making things about of paper plates because it’s a bit stronger than construction paper. I agree – glitter is fabulous!!
