Do you have a diaper bag stash that you can’t live without?
My favorite stashes are always something caffeinated…but, that’s another story. Honestly, my diaper bag stash has saved me when I’ve flown in airplanes with my kids or when I’m too far away from the house to run home and grab something. That’s why I’m thrilled to partner with Poise (a Happily Ever Mom sponsor) because they remind us all to be prepared for the unexpected gifts of becoming a Mom…(ahem). While diaper bags are often used for the basics – diapers, wipes, ointment, light blanket, extra clothes, etc. – there are some essential items that can absolutely save the day and avoid cutting trips short when you are out and about with little ones!
10+ {Save-the-Day} Diaper Bag Stash
Bubbles – Put the wand up to the vent in the car for instant entertainment or blow them while you wait in the Doctor’s office. Either way, bubbles are sure to come to the rescue if you have little ones in tow. Stash them in one of the bottle pockets when your littles aren’t using bottles anymore.
Liners – we should all have a secret stash of feminine products in our diaper bags (because you never know when your flo will come back), but don’t forget Poise microliners, too. After baby, slight bladder leakage can be one of those things that happens that no one talks about and these liners can save you <— plus, they’re so thin that no one will ever know!
Extra Socks/Soft shoes – I don’t know if this is a new normal for us since we’ve had two kids, but we always leave the house without my son’s shoes! Don’t forget to have a small stash of some socks, or better yet, some slim shoes in your bag for emergencies…
Snacks for them – Squeeze applesauces are great for any age – squeeze them into a spoon for babies or let older kids drink them on their own.
Snacks for us – Don’t forget about you! Throw in a power bar or your favorite bag of nuts for a snack that can be stashed in a bag without going bad.
Essential oils – These little bottles can help kids calm down for a nap on the go or help you reduce stress while you’re out and about. I can’t say enough wonderful things about essential oils and they are so easy to stash in a diaper bag!
Little trash bags – These little cuties are the perfect stash for any bag. Tie up a dirty diaper, put wet clothes in them after a swim (or accident), or clean up the car before you head inside. Use a reusable bag if you want to go environmentally friendly, so you can save your car or diaper bag from becoming another garbage can.
Medicine – If you suffer from aches and pains or migraines, be sure to have a stash of pills in case you really need some medication while you are out and about. Of course, if you’re a nursing Mom, be sure to check what medications you can and can’t take while nursing.
Bandaids/wipes – When baby is on the move, a few bandaids along with some antibacterial wipes are the perfect first aid stash without getting your diaper bag too bulky.
Sunscreen – Somehow we always get sunburned when I least expect it. Having a stash in your diaper bag will not only save your baby’s skin, but yours too! (see the tip at the end to manage the bulkiness of sunscreen bottles!)
Travel sized tissues – Either for your nose or the kids, tissues are a must have for any mommy bag!
My Best Tip for Your Diaper Bag Stash
Go to the travel sized section in your grocery store and get everything you need! These smaller containers are cheap and an easy way to fit everything into a diaper bag.
Not sure about adding Poise to your bag?
The great news is that they are giving away free samples and those are the perfect way to add this stash to your diaper bag for FREE! <— and, can we all just take a deep breath and say, it’s okay to talk about this?! Seriously, Mommas, you’re not alone..
Thanks so much to Poise, our sponsors, for inspiring this post and reminding us that taking care of ourselves helps us to better take care of our families! While Poise sponsored this post, all of the opinions, ideas, and suggestions are my own. See our full disclosure here.
