There is nothing better than a great mason jar craft…in my opinion!
We use mason jars in our house for canning, holding bouquets of flowers, storing dry foods, but this baby keepsake jar is our favorite way to use a mason jar!
We received some acrylic paint for free from Craft Project Ideas (<—- I have to disclose that they sent us paints, but this craft idea is my own – craft project ideas ROCK by the way!). I wanted a way to use a jar to hold some of my son’s baby keepsakes. I was excited to try this technique out and it worked beautifully!
Materials for Baby Keepsake Jar
- Acrylic Paint
- Contact Paper
- Paint Brushes
- Modge Podge (optional)
All you need to do is wrestle your baby (wait…did I just say that?! Ehem…I meant gently encourage your baby to cooperate……..) and trace their hand. You might need a partner to help…I’m just saying..
How to Make a Baby Keepsake Jar
Place the contact paper on the jar (don’t worry this will come off). And, paint, paint, paint! My three year old and I mixed blue and yellow to achieve this nice green. Let dry and gently peel back the contact paper.
Note: If any paint leaked underneath the contact paper, wipe away with a baby wipe (but, be careful not to wipe away ALL of the paint!)
Apply modge podge here if you’d like to give it a good seal and Enjoy!
Do you love mason jars as much as we do? What do you use them for in your house?
im trying this!
Awesome, Kelly! It’s so easy to make and such a treasure!!
