10 Easy Patterns to Sew a Dress for a Girl Around the World

Family Time

I love to sew a dress.  Especially for my daughter.

She’s always preferred wearing dresses, so I knew that I needed to learn how to sew early on.  Luckily, my sister-in-law gave me some lessons and I’ve been able to sew simple dresses for my daughter ever since.  If you’re just starting out, here are some great free patterns to start sewing your own girl’s dress.

Love these simple patterns that look like it takes a lot of skill to make (but doesn't!). I particularly love that they mention dress a girl around the world bec...

10 Simple Girl’s Dresses to Sew

Sew an easy top tank dress with some fabric and a ribbon.  So many options with this pattern.

Or, try this version of a tank top dress with a little trick to keep the dressing from sagging over time without elastic.

This is a close version of what I made with my daughter.  It’s a simple pillow case dress that uses elastic for a better fit (in my opinion) and something that will last longer for kids to wear.

Make a simple dress fancy with a little flutter sleeve.  It’s too cute to miss!

Take a tee shirt dress to the next level with this easy to add twirly skirt. Any little one would love to twist and twirl in this dress!

Make a pillow case dress with an added ruffle.  I wish I had known about this one when I first started sewing!

I love the hidden pockets and simple design of this adorable, flowy dress.  Perfect for summer.

I’m in love with this two-tiered jersey dress.  If you are willing to work with jersey knit, this is an adorable and super comfy option.

Love ruffles?  Try this tank top dress with four tiers worth of ruffles…it’s too cute!

I love the straight forward, beginner design for these bandana dresses.  They are so quick to make, too!

What to do with all those dresses…?

Have you heard about dress a girl around the world?

From the moment that I heard about it, I’ve wanted to sew a dress to send to them.

While the dress patterns above are great for my little girl and some of the designs work as a donation, not all of them have the requirements for dress a girl around the world.  See the do’s and don’ts here.

Really, all you need to be able to do is make a simple pillow case dress!

In fact, my daughter even helped me with the first dress that we made with our church and it was the best thing that we’ve done together in such a long time!  Will you be making one, too?

My daughter like wearing skirt and dress very much. She really likes lovely and colorful dresses. Next time is her birthday. When I was reading this post, a good idea about birthday present was flashing through my mind. I will sew a lovely skirt for her. Thank for giving me creative ideas!
