I love getting holiday cards this time of year but, if you’re like me, you may not have finished your holiday cards or, maybe, you just didn’t have time! I use PicMonkey (a free online editor) to edit and to share my pictures on this blog, but I’m also using their collage feature to put together a few of our favorite memories this year. Check out these five ways that PicMonkey can help you share magical moments this season:
1.) Share Multiple Pictures Using the Collage Feature
Whenever we do something fun as a family, I almost always send photos out to family members (mainly, to Grandparents). I often send three or four of my favorite pictures that look like this:
It’s just a series of photos with a couple of lines like, “Daddy and L,” “Katie and Baby Boy,””Beautiful lights at Disneyland.” I give a quick description of what we’ve done while sharing some of the fun. But, when I took these same shots and put them into PicMonkey collage, my photos suddenly tell a great story with only one image instead of four!
One of my favorite features of PicMonkey collage is that you can adjust each cell or square to the exact size you want (plus, they have a ton of templates to choose from). You can also eliminate cells by clicking on the “x” in the top right hand corner of each cell if you don’t have enough pictures to fit in each square. You can also change the background color (in this collage, I used black because it worked well with the nighttime photos). You can also edit each photos exposure and size once you add it to the collage. How easy is that?!
2.) Use Photos and Text to Preserve Memories
I love telling a great story through my photos on their own, but the combination of text and photos allows me to share memories as well. I left one of the “squares,” or collage cells, empty so that I could write some text. I wrote about my kids favorite ride (we rode “It’s a Small World” three different times!) because it’s such a great memory and will make my kids shudder when they are teenagers! The detail of text also makes my collage similar to a scrapbook page.
3.) Create a “Green” Family Photo Album
The collage feature is wonderful for sharing memories with family and for telling a story, but it’s also great for myself! I am not one of those wonderful people out there who create elaborate scrapbooks, nor do I make printable books. But, I realized that I can use my collages as pages for a digital scrapbook! It’s a green option for preserving my most cherished family memories without breaking the bank or requiring too much time.
4.) Save Storage Space on Your Computer
Since I am a photo-snapping fanatic, I have a lot of storage space taken up by photographs on my computer. Making these collages give me the freedom to delete some of the individual photographs (of course, I save some of them for other uses, like prints) which helps me save storage space on my computer – woo hoo!
5.) Save Time and Money
PicMonkey is free and fast! It’s hard to find services out there that are actually free, but PicMonkey is one of them. That’s why I became such a huge fan so quickly! Of course, they have the great upgrade feature called, Royale, which unlocks all of the overlays and texts, but you certainly aren’t limited by the free features. I love that I can quickly hop over to their site and create a gorgeous collage in less than 20 minutes. There is no better gift during the holiday season than the gift of getting things done quickly and for free!
Need a last minute gift?
Consider getting someone the upgrade feature on PicMonkey (especially if you have a blogger or photographer in the family!!). This time of year always seems to go by so quickly. I try to snap a photo here and there as my kids play and interact with each other and family members because, as my daughter says, the holidays are “all about family.”
How will you preserve your memories this year?
In full disclosure, I received a free upgrade to PicMonkey’s Royale feature for writing this post, but I’ve been a fan and user of PicMonkey for a long time. All of the opinions in the post are my own, and I truly believe that PicMonkey is a wonderful editing tool that you should check out!

I love PicMonkey too! They are the best place to make collages on-line, IMHO! (By the way, your photos are awesome!)
I love those pictures!!! The way you put them together in the collage makes me totally want to go to Disneyland next year! Looks like you guys had such a great time!
I must make better use of all the picmonkey features!
Thanks, Lisette! You always have a buddy down here to visit if you end up coming down 🙂
Thanks, Emma!
I just tried picmonkey today and am loving it! Thanks for turning me on to it!
YAY! I’m glad you love it too!! It’s such an easy {and fun!} way to edit photos 🙂
