My kids love yogurt.
Scratch that, they’re obsessed with yogurt. In fact, it’s a snack that they would have every single day, but somehow our yogurt reserve always seems to be low. And, I’m sure we’re not the only family out there with that problem! In the spirit of summer, we wanted to come up with 4th of July kid friendly desserts that we can take to BBQ’s and family gatherings. This dessert was something that my kids were able to help with and it was a healthy way to make a cute dessert for kids without any added sugar. Now, that’s a win/win!
We’re grateful for our Happily Ever Mom sponsor, Yoplait®, for reminding us that yogurt is so much more than a breakfast food! After you see how easy this dessert is, I bet you’ll be making it for family BBQ’s all summer long…
We are all over this American Flag dessert because it is so simple, but it is absolutely darling.
Both my two year old and my five year old were able to help fill the cups with yogurt and add the toppings. My daughter was SO proud after we made this dessert. She said that it tasted, “sweet and yummy, but healthy, too!” I just love her response!
What You Need for 4th of July Kid Friendly Desserts
- Blueberry, Strawberry, and Vanilla Yoplait® Yogurt (you can get these at Walmart!)
- Chopped strawberries and bananas
- Whole blueberries
- Chocolate shavings (optional)
Once you’ve got everything gathered and chopped, this 4th of July kid friendly dessert will come together quickly!
How to Make this 4th of July Dessert
To make the exact American Flag above, you’ll need to fill:
- 4 cups of Yoplait® blueberry yogurt topped with blueberries.
- 8 cups filled with Yoplait® vanilla and topped with chopped banana.
- 8 cups filled with Yoplait® strawberry yogurt topped with strawberries.
If you want to make this dessert extra special, put a layer of shaved chocolate in the middle of each yogurt cup. Kids will love it!
Then, you’ll arrange the American flag design:
Top row: 2 blueberry cups, 4 vanilla.
Next row: 2 blueberry cups, 4 strawberry.
Next row: 5 vanilla cups.
Last row: 5 strawberry cups.
Tip: place the cups in a casserole dish for easy transport!
Add a little spray of whipped cream or sprinkle a few chocolate chips to make this dessert over the top.
Rearrange the cup design to make hearts, patterns, and other kid-made designs to use this recipe all year long!
