There are times when I’m not sure how Moms get anything done besides taking care of their kids.
Yet as I blogger, I watch as Moms crush their goals and live their dreams while homeschooling their kids part time and traveling around the country. Say what?! How on Earth are the making this happen?
Instead of wondering if they just put their kids in a locked basketball court for the day and go work on their laptops, I’ve decided to watch these Moms. In a non-creepy way, I’ve been studying them because these Moms give me hope. They’ve shown me that’s it’s possible to live the life you want, reach your own BIG goals, and still be a loving Mom.
Here’s what I’ve learned from these crazy productive Moms so far…

You might be wondering how these Moms reaching such big goals?
It’s because of this…
Moms who are more productive drink water, not coffee.
Yes, I meant to type ‘water.’ While they are likely drinking coffee too (what Moms aren’t?), that isn’t what they drink FIRST thing in the morning. Remember, we go without drinking water all night long. It turns out that if you wake up tired, you may actually be dehydrated instead of needing more sleep. The trick? Drink water first thing in the morning. An easy way to do it is to keep an insulated water bottle by your bed that is filled with ice water. I cannot say enough amazing things about the water bottle that I got for Christmas. You’ll actually wake up to cold water with this thing. Then, drink it the moment that you wake up!
Moms who are more productive know that they can’t do it all.
Sure, they look like they are conquering the world (and they are), but they aren’t getting everything done on their to-do list every single day. The truth is that Moms who are more productive know how to prioritize their to-do list. Instead of trying to get EVERYTHING done, they know that they should get bite-sized goals met every single day that will help them reach their big goals. Forget trying to do everything and remember this: focus on only 2-3 goals for the day. That’s it. Not EVERYHING: 2-3 things. Then, rinse and repeat with new goals tomorrow.
Moms who are more Productive have laser focus.
No, they don’t work all day long. In fact, they are probably doing the opposite. But, when they DO work, they have laser focus. They know exactly what they need to get done, when they should do it, and then they GET IT DONE. They don’t question or procrastinate. Instead, the finish their 2-3 goals so that they can enjoy the rest of the day.
Psst…I use a daily to-do list that has been a game-changer for me!
Moms who are more Productive make time for themselves.
We aren’t talking about a solo trip to Hawaii (although that would be nice); instead, Moms who are more productive know that they need to have personal goals as well as professional. A simple personal goal might be scheduling a date night, making time every morning to journal first thing every morning, or taking five minutes to drink coffee while it’s warm. If you really don’t think you can find to do those things, it’s proof of how badly you need it. Remember, we can’t always go around filling other people’s proverbial cup without filling up our own. If we ignore our needs completely, we’ll be left with nothing to pour… and painfully cold coffee.
Moms who are more Productive have BIG goals.
They. Dream. BIG. On the days when you just can’t get out of bed because their is too much to do, these Moms are jumping out of bed because they know that they NEED to get work done towards their big goals. If you’ve never been motivated by resolutions or goals, I’m telling you: you are NOT dreaming big enough. In fact, you’d probably enjoying reading the book: The Magic of Thinking Big. I’m about 100 pages into the book and I’m can’t put it down because I’m learning so much! Put the fiction book down or stop binge watching Netflix this week and start reading the book that will help you achieve those big dreams of yours. BIG goals really are possible, even as busy Moms.
