Hi Everyone!
I’m quickly trying to share this post before Halloween is officially over! L and I worked hard on carving this little beauty, adding skewers, threading colored noddles, and topping it all off with glitter and a crown. It’s a perfectly adorable (or, scary according to my husband ;-)) pumpkin for your porch!
We started with L drawing the shapes for the pumpkin face. I carved them exactly as she drew them. She designed our larger pumpkin, too, and I am in awe of the faces that she created this year! We threw the “guts” of the pumpkin into a clear bag for M to squish and to observe. I also tied some ribbons under our table for his activity and exploration!
He loved it and we were all happily engaged! Next, we turned our attention back to the pumpkin and we pounded the skewers in for hair. L got to work quickly as she added color by threading the noodles. We had dyed them for her Pinkalicious party, so this was a great way to use the leftovers.
She even made one skewer with repeating colors. Then, she touched each one saying, “purple, pink, purple, pink…” I love that she was learning about patterns while she decorated her pumpkin – those are my favorite moments to witness!
Then, L painted with modge podge and sprinkled the glitter on top. She said that it was like adding fairy dust. 🙂 Now, I think this pumpkin looks rather intimidating, but to my daughter, it is one of her greatest creations. If you happen to knock on our door tonight, compliments like “what lovely hair that pumpkin has!” and “a princess pumpkin? How creative!” are totally welcome and appreciated! Happy Halloween!
What do your pumpkins look like this year?

Ahoy Matey! Seems like a Pirate Pumpkin to me!

I never thought of it that way! L drew the shapes herself and I cut them. But, I thought it looked like it was winking!
